Reiki and Christianity

Reiki is energy from God/Source/Creator.  I view it as energy from the Holy Spirit.  I am Christian and open to many faith traditions and practices. Reiki has helped me to develop a closer relationship with God. Reiki is deeply spiritual for me and for many people.  One of the great benefits of Reiki is that it allows one to experience what I call “embodied spirituality.” That is the ability to feel God rather than just read about God. We can have our own experience with the Divine. That may appeal to those of us who have an inner rebel and want to learn for ourselves rather than to be told something. When we activate Reiki healing energy, we can feel the divine healing power flowing through us to bless our self or someone else. 

I always begin and end my Reiki sessions and classes with prayer.  Through 22 years as a Spiritual Counselor for Unity Church, I have gained an ability to pray with someone just about anytime and anywhere.  I also have the honor of beginning meetings for the International Center for Reiki Training with prayer. I often feel a great sense of bliss as I am working on others and when I am teaching Reiki.  The Bible says, as I give, so I receive.  Reiki healing energy flows through me as I give Reiki to help others.  I have also experienced higher consciousness in which Divine Bliss rolled through me to the point of tears running down my face. 

Reiki works with people of any religion or spiritual path and also with those with no faith.  I am blessed to have had a great diversity of students who consider themselves to be Jewish, Wiccan, Shamans, Catholics, Protestants, agnostic, Hindu, Muslim, Goddess religions, spiritual but not religious, atheist, and more. It is fun to have a variety of beliefs in class and Reiki sessions. Reiki doesn’t care about our beliefs and works for all who choose to learn and receive. 

Everyone has the ability to use healing energy.  During the Reiki placement (attunement) that is given in class, the student receives the ability to use the Reiki energy and it increases his/her natural healing ability.  The placement opens up the student to higher levels of consciousness and greater love so that the student will be able to utilize more of God’s healing energy. 

Reiki can also help to heal religious trauma. As one raises in consciousness and is able to see one’s authentic self (Divine nature), one is more easily able to see the same in others and realize that at the deepest level, we are all one. ¹² Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. ¹³ And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴ You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

I tell my students that we can provide comfort, healing, and sometimes miracles happen. It is all up to God. We are merely the channel for the healing and it is up to us to get our egos out of the way and not take the glory or the responsibility for Reiki working or not working the way we hope. Reiki, like prayer, is guided by the Divine. 

Reiki can help you to have a closer relationship with the spiritual being of your choice. Simply activate your Reiki distant symbol and any others you choose to use and send Reiki to the spiritual being to establish a stronger connection. This will more easily allow you to receive love and guidance from this spiritual being. 

Reiki may be an answer to the modern dilemma of feeling spiritually bankrupt from our over busy lives, decreased attendance at places of worship, and constant interaction with technology. Reiki can work anytime, anywhere. It’s quick and works on the go. There is no dogma to believe in. One only needs to be open to receive. I love it’s all inclusive and flexible nature.
