A Reiki Master is one who has taken the Reiki Master class and received the attunements (placements) for Reiki Master. In Japan, the name of the Reiki Master level is Shinpiden, which means “Mystery Teaching.” Shinpiden is the mystery of God’s love, wisdom, and power. A student with Reiki II for a minimum of 6 months is eligible to take the combined Usui/Holy Fire Advanced Reiki Training and Reiki Master course. Reiki, as it is known today, was developed in 1922 by Mikao Usui who then taught it to 2,000 practitioners. Only 20 of those reached the level of Reiki Master. Only Reiki Masters teach and can initiate new Reiki Masters.

The Japanese technique of using Reiki for healing the body, mind, and spirit, is a hands-on technique in which Reiki practitioners use touch to bring about healing and balance, drawing on universal lifeforce energy. Becoming a Reiki Master ensures personal growth,  enabling one to receive the enhanced potential for healing and wisdom that comes from Reiki energy. By receiving the Usui master symbol and the attunement that empowers it, the Reiki Master can become aware of higher levels of consciousness and a greater connection to the Divine.

Although a student can learn the Reiki Master level in a few days, working with the Reiki energy over years and deepening one’s practice will bring greater rewards of enhanced peace, balance, health, and abundance. Because Reiki respects free will, we must invite it to help us. When we invite Reiki to heal and foster personal growth, a greater healing experience can be realized. Surrendering one’s will to God and to receiving the flow of Reiki energy rewards the Reiki Master with enhanced awareness and can lead to unlimited possibilities for personal growth, joy, and peace.

Although a Reiki Master is not required to teach Reiki to others, he or she does have the opportunity to share the healing energy, symbols, techniques and knowledge, helping to guide them, and sharing in their joy as they experience the gentle power of Reiki healing energy for the first time. Compassion and love for all are strengthened as one merges with Reiki Consciousness, embracing the energy that comes from God.
